Known as El Corazón Cultural del Barrio, Taller Puertorriqueño is a community-based cultural organization that uses art to promote development within its community and the Latinx Diaspora and build bridges to the Greater Philadelphia region.

CALL and RESPONSE offers two components. An exhibit in Taller’s Gallery and Atrium and a mural commemorating Taller Puertorriqueno’s 50th Anniversary serving the diaspora.
For Taller’s Lorenzo Homar Gallery, Tending the Garden is a personal exploration of themes of familial and personal relationships, trauma, violence, anxiety, isolation, and the stages of healing, reclaiming anonymity and personal space while building a community of healthy relationships.

The Julia de Burgos Bookstore at Taller
The only one of its kind in Philly. Our store is a bilingual bookstore that specializes in Puerto Rican culture but embraces and represents all Latin cultures. We sell merchandise by local artists and artisans. Any income from the store goes right back into Taller Puertorriqueño’s after-school programs, youth artist programs, community events, and more.
