Outreach

Partnering with other organizations is a hallmark of Taller’s programming. Taller has had a long-standing history of successful collaborations and coalition building to reach its diverse audiences including classes and activities both on-site and off-site at partner locations, and exhibits off-site at the Philadelphia International Airport and Best Practice Institute, on going at Congreso de Latinos Unidos (Congreso) and many others. Taller works with Congreso, the Hispanic Association of Contractors and Enterprises and Raíces Culturales Latinoamericanas to present the Annual Feria del Barrio. Taller is in partnership with various higher education institutions and museums for specific programmatic initiatives like the 2004 Isla del Burén: the Taíno and their Predecessors in Puerto Rico done in collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Puerto Rico Museums of Anthropology, and for the annual Schomburg Symposium and Book and Craft Fair with Swarthmore College and Haverford College. We maintain on-going relationships with many peer art organizations in the City such as the Painted Bride Art Center, the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, the Brandywine Workshop, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

An important strategic goal is to expand partnerships with organizations that extend Taller’s work to underserved audiences as well as help develop new resources. Taller is one of the 15 member Eastern North Philadelphia Youth Services (ENPYS) coalition with Centro Nueva Creación, Centro Nueva Esperanza, the Lighthouse, Concilio de Organizaciones Hispanas (Concilio) and ten (10) others, to coordinate seamless comprehensive services to youth and provides culturally grounded art classes in partner community organizations such as ASPIRA of PA.
